Window Socket - Kyuho Song & Boa Oh

So this is an absolutley brilliant idea! Just attach the plug on to a window and it will harness solar energy. A small converter will convert it into electricity which can be freely used as a plug when you are in the car, on a plane or outside.

Love this design and I really think it has a great potential.

So this video started going around my facebook today, with about a dozen of my female friends sharing the link with comments like, and “Everyone needs to see this”, and “All girls should watch this,” and “This made me cry.” And I’m not trying to shame those girls! I…

Something to think about.
I have to say some of the things she says crossed my mind while watching it.

NEWS FLASH:

Dove’s marketing turns out to be…marketing. They are a corporation people, not social activist group.

The people who came up with the “Real Beauty” campaigns are designers, marketeers, business people. Do you really think that they didn’t focus group the campaign? Do you really think they don’t know their target audience? Do you REALLY think this is all just a nice little thing for them to do to try to make women feel better about themselves (mostly because they’ve spent decades making women feel not so nice about themselves, however subconsciously?)

Marketing is about selling products. If pretty, white, blue-eyed, blond-haired women in the 20-40 age range are more likely to buy dove than women of color or older women, I assure you dove knows it and that is why this campaign is tailored to it

Let’s be honest, how many of you buy more dove products because of these commercials?.

It is good marketing; the key word being marketing.
